On Friday evening a group of Acorns travelled to the Mary Peters Track to take part in the NIRUNNING MILE EVENT.
The Acorn men who travelled, left after leaving every ounce on the track.Of the five Acorn men who took part on the night, three returned with new pb`s at the Mile distance.  First to race was Martin Flick Loughran, Martin is making steady progress back from injury and attacked hard from the start, only tiring in the last 200 metres still finishing strongly in 5.04.
Next to run in perhaps the race of the night was Colm and Roger,Roger through down the guantlet early on,knocking in a 1.13 first lap,Colm responded closing up and then passing Roger in the second lap,Roger responded with both men working of each other and they kicked again in the final lap with Colm just finishing in front with a new pb of 5.17 and Roger just behind also with a new pb of 5.19,a great race.
Last to race was Niall and Eugene.Good pacing from Eugene at the start with Niall just behind,as the final lap approached anticipation was high as Niall has a strong sprint finish and sure enough with 200 metres to go,Niall emptied the tanks with not an ounce left as he crossed the finish line in 5.36 with Eugene just behind in a new pb of 5.44.Well done to all the Acorn men on a great nights racing and thankyou to NIRunning for putting on a very well run event.
