On Saturday morning Acorn Eoin Hughes who took part in the 3000 metre race which was part of the Team Trophy and Senior Relay Event at Mary Peters Track.
A small turnout at the event meant Eoin struggled to work of a pack regarding pacing but still accounted himself well finishing strongly in 9.22.80 and a new PB.

Saturday also saw Acorns Kate Semple, Deirdre Bradley, Jennifer Bradley, Don Brownlee and Gary McGuckin take part in the Rathlin 10 Mile run. An early start with the first challenge being the ferry ride from Ballycastle to Rathlin but fortunately the weather was good today and the sea relatively calm. The 10 mile run is a challenging one, an out and back course to the lighthouse and back, starting close to the harbour it is straight into a steady climb and then the first of some really sharp hills. The Acorns all had a great day and really enjoyed the event, with great views up to and near the lighthouse though not much time for taking in the great scenery before heading back to the finish. Gary finished first Acorn in a new course PB of 1.13.11, with Deirdre and Jennifer following in 1.33.52 both taking 2 minutes of their pervious PBs. Trying the event for the first time were Kate and Don and both finished strongly in 1.37.47.

Acorns Stacey Hinfey and Edel McGuckin who took on the Frank Duffy 10 Mile in Dublin on Saturday morning in very warm conditions. With 5500 runners it made for a great atmosphere. Both ladies had a great run with Stacey finishing in a time of 1:22:49 and Edel in 1:31:58.

Mark Thom took on the Armagh City Half Marathon on Sunday morning in hot conditions and a hilly, challenging course. Mark had a very strong run finishing in 1.39.37.

On Sunday a few Acorns travelled to Carrickfergus to taking part in the Storming the Castle event. A fairly flat course which ran along the picturesque promenade before finishing in the 12th century Norman castle near Carrickfergus town centre. Results are as follows;
Suzanne Bigmore 50.43
Chris Jones 54.04
Edel Kidd 59.05
Judith Dickson 59.52
Stephanie Jones 66.37
Charlene Hyndman 75.47
Vicki Hassan 75.47
